June 30, 2007 longest day
Phew! I didn't get home from work until about 8:30pm. I worked two hours overtime to finish up the mailroom reorganization (the new residents start on Sunday) and then it took an hour and a half to get home (stupid public transit!). But that's money in the bank (especially since I got paid today) and the project is finished, so Monday should go smoother.
Tomorrow G and I are going to a Giants game - whoo hoo! We're making a whole day of it with lunch and batting practice, bobbleheads and super yummy ball park food. It's my first game of the season; now that I don't get C's tickets all the time, I've had to cut way back on my live participation. Fingers crossed for a win - go Giants!

June 24, 2007 Oh, I gotta be there!
So, I just saw a commercial for the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. They have a summer concert series and I just saw that Tiffany is playing in August!!! Oh, I gotta see that! I missed her concert in 2004, but not this year :)

June 21, 2007 that's gonna leave a mark
When Fish Attack When A showed me this video, I couldn't stop laughing. Seriously, I had tears rolling down my face. It starts off slow, but the pay off is SO worth it!
The day started off with a loud guy defending his right to be loud on the train by screaming at a woman who was seated in the next section. It's sorta an unwritten rule that the train is quiet in the morning, with most people sleeping, reading or listening to music. I was standing across from him with my headphones on, so I didn't really hear what was said to him at first. But I gather that someone asked him to maybe use his inside voice because he started screaming that he could speak any way he wanted to and that it wasn't his fault she was trying to sleep. This wasn't her bedroom! He ended his brilliant argument by calling her a bitch to his friend. I kept my head down and closed my eyes again, drifting back into my twilight time, where I "sleep" standing up against the partition. Shockingly enough, however, Mr. Loudmouth managed to use his 6-inch voice for the rest of our journey.
Yesterday's post was my 1600th with this account, which seems pretty momentous. Not sure how to celebrate, but I wanted to put that out there. Also wanted to shout out to Aunt Suzy and Uncle Mark for always keeping up with my blog and for sending me that awesome card ;)

clean bill of health
I had my post-op check up after work today and it went really well. I got back on solid foods on Sunday night and have been doing great ever since. Thanks to everyone for your awesome advice and sharing your experiences. It definitely helped me get through this with flying colors!
Work has been really crazy lately. My officemate is taking another job at the university and is leaving at the end of next week. My boss is leaving for a two and a half week vacay tonight, so we have been sorta scrambling to get some safety nets in place when those things happen. Because my sanity will not last being on my own like that. It just won't. One of the fellows suggested bringing a flask to help get me through the day - and I didn't think it was a bad idea ;) We'll see how things shake out.
I'm supremely disappointed in the lack of television this summer. KB and I were chatting today at lunch and after we shared our mutual disgust at the train-wrecks that are Celebrity Fit Club and Reunited: The Real World Vegas, there really wasn't anything to discuss. I mean, yeah, Top Chef is back on, but it's too early to care about anyone and to be honest, I'm a little gunshy after the horrific-ness of last season. I've got the first season of Entourage on DVD from Netflix sitting on my coffee table, so perhaps I'll do a mini-marathon this weekend.

June 15, 2007 and the word of the day is "cranky"
So, the surgery seemed to go fine and I had a pretty good first day at home. I'm already sick of all my liquid foods and I'm pretty sore, but not in a tremendous amount of pain. I'm pretty bored, but less so than yesterday, so I guess that's good. I never realized how difficult eating could be without chewing or opening your mouth wide. I'm just glad I've gotten it over with :)

June 12, 2007 "but I just put money in the Magic Fingers!"
I had such a stressful day at work. I woke up sore and out of joint, but the eventfulness of the day just did not help anything. With my upcoming surgery this week, one of my coworkers suggested that I pamper myself. So, after work, I went to get a massage.
It. Was. Awesome.
I seriously feel like a new person. I'm sore, but in a good way. Even though I was just laying there, it totally wore me out. I was shaking in the car on the way home, but that has subsided. Nathan has Magic Fingers because he totally worked out the stress and tension in my neck and shoulders as well as my lower back. I think I'm addicted.
While it wasn't as good as yoga for a bad day, it was pretty damn close.

June 11, 2007 opening it up to the peanut gallery
So, I'm getting my two wisdom teeth out on Thursday morning. I'm probably the last one of you guys to have this done, so I need your expertise. What should I do/not do? Food choices? Ways to alleviate boredom? I need any and all advice you can give me for this little experience ;)

June 9, 2007 welcome to the world, MDC!
Baby C has finally made his appearance in the world last night! Proud, but incredibly tired parents, C and Y, sent out the email this morning with all the vital stats. Both mom and baby are doing well and photos should be coming soon. Congrats to C and Y :)

June 8, 2007 is it wrong that this makes me happy?
Screaming Paris Hilton Sent Back to Jail I know I shouldn't dignify this with any of my own ink, but I'm glad that someone is finally using their damn brain in this situation. Maybe this time she'll eat the damn food when it's given to her.
"Assistant City Attorney Dan F. Jeffries argued 'her release after only three days erodes confidence in the judicial system.'"
God bless the state of California. I can't wait to hear AG Jerry Brown's reaction to this whole debacle.

June 7, 2007 hump day linkage
Jon Carroll: "We must ask you not to read this column. Doing so would subject you to stiff fines and harsh penalties." And the sad part is? Even though this is just a column by the awesome Jon Carroll, it could totally happen.
Bob Barker Tapes Final 'Price Is Right' Say it ain't so, Bob! Now, I will never realize my lifelong dream to play Plinko :(
I Can See Your Thong From Here Mark Morford rocks my world - as usual. Google Street View is fun to play with when you're bored at work - not that I would know anything about that...
And the "Ain't that some shit?" award goes to this couple for one of the weirdest relationships I've ever read about. Let me give you a brief peek at the crazy: Linda and Burt Pugach, just another bickering couple from Queens. Except for these unavoidable facts: Nearly 50 years ago, after Linda spurned him and became engaged to another man, a jury convicted Burt, a lawyer, of hiring a thug to throw lye in her face.
The attack blinded her and sent him to jail. When he got out 14 years later, Burt proposed again. Linda accepted.
Uh huh. Right. Exactly. Wait! Nope, I still don't get this AT ALL.
Oh, and I don't care how bad "Ocean's 13" turns out - these men are hot. Yum-my!

June 3, 2007 lazy Sunday
I slept in this morning after getting in around 1am from K's house. We went out to dinner at her restaurant and then headed back to her house to chill. We watched "The Da Vinci Code," which was intriguing. I think it appeals to my history geek side, trying to reconcile with my Christianity. I don't really understand why actual Christians were so upset by the movie, which is obviously fiction. Whatever. Good movie and a good night with friends.
Today, I've run some errands and I'm getting ready for another laundry night. Such is life of a twenty-something in the city. What a burden it is to be me! Ha!

June 1, 2007 theme: all about fictional characters
 - I wouldn't toss Dr McDreamy out of bed!
- Josh Lyman/Danny Tripp has no appeal for me whatsoever.
- A good dream would involve me and Pacey Witter; we would make sure he forgets all about that Joey girl, for once and for all.
- The sexiest man or woman in the movies is ; the sexiest man or woman on tv is Derek Shepherd.
- C Montgomery Burns portrays a wicked villain.
- CJ Cregg and Toby Ziegler would make a great couple.
- TGIF! Tonight I'm relaxing with a Subway sandwich and some reading, tomorrow my plans include spa treatments, dry cleaning and dinner with K and Sunday, I'll finally unpack from last weekend and get the apartment in order!
And a big, big, BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to KB who turns 30 today! I encouraged him to celebrate by purchasing some life insurance and having a colonoscopy, but he wasn't very receptive to that suggestion. I have a feeling he has already started plotting his revenge on me in just a few short years.
