November 28, 2003 Update
It's been a crazy week! I'm blogging from the homeland. I've pretty much given up finishing my NaNovel cause I'm at 22021 and I've got two days to finish. I hope to finish the book and see where we go from there. I've sent in my applications to college and now it's just a waiting game. I hope to see some of my friends tomorrow before I head back on Sunday.

November 20, 2003 Happy Birthday To Me!
It started off bad and ended up being a wonderful birthday. Not too bad for 23, the age that I was informed where "everybody hates you." We shall see.

I forgot my wallet this morning and had to take a late lunch but everything worked out all right after all.

I went to a seminar tonight about the CSU application and I feel a lot better about sending it in. Hopefully, I will be able to do that this weekend (I'm starting tonight) and get it over with. I should hear back by February/March, so let's hope for some good news, shall we? I'm applying to Cal State Northridge (the home school), San Diego State (the long shot), and San Francisco State (my first choice).

KB cooked me dinner for "Night of 1000 Pleasures" as he was calling it. We started with nachos (just chips and cheese, please!) and then moved onto wonderful steaks with baked potatos KB-style. Dessert was some fabulous chocolate dipped bananas. Can't get better than that!

I also got quite a few phone calls yesterday and I felt like I was on the phone continuously for hours. Webb called and left a message, so I called him back and we chatted for a bit before dinner. Then during dinner, I got the biggest surprise phone call. My cell phone rang and I looked at the caller I.D. I figured my phone was being obnoxious (I have a new one coming in the mail) and playing tricks on me because I hadn't spoke to this person in almost a year. But it wasn't a trick -- I really got a birthday phone call from Erin Leeth! My parents called in the middle, but I had to call them back. It was great to hear from her and we are going to try to get together over Thanksgiving. Now that she's not working retail, hopefully it will be easier to get together. And perhaps, the four of us will all get to be in the same place at the same time...nah, couldn't be!

All in all, it was a pretty great night!

November 16, 2003 Co-Op
I just got home from shopping at Co-Opportunity and it was lovely. I've never been big into organic and crap like that, but the people were so friendly, I found everything I needed for dinner tonight (plus lunch for tomorrow). I supported local farmers and business and I didn't feel like I was overcharged. It was great!

Arriving Home...
I have just arrived home from seeing the most wonderful movie of my recent memory, love actually. Suffice to say, if the beginning and the end don't make you even a tad misty eyed...well, there's no hope for you! It also put me in a Christmas mood, which got me thinking about my tree. Last year, I put it in the corner by the sliding glass door, but since then I've added a corner bookcase. So now, do I move the corner bookcase somewhere else (where?!) or find an alternate spot in the living room for it (perhaps by the fireplace?)? I'd love some opinions if you've got them.

I got two new pair of pants on sale at the BR which I'm hoping Mommy dearest can hem for me when I'm home in two weeks (OMIGOSH...two weeks until Thanksgiving....ahhhh!!!). Otherwise I'll take it to dear Ken over at Nu Life, my wonderful cleaners here in the city of Angels.

Even though it is quite late (or early), I think I will try to write for a bit as I am now quite wired. I do hope to go to church in the morning. KB said he's coming by around 10 if he's coming. We'll see if either of us goes.

November 15, 2003 A Wonderful pre-birthday birthday
Omigosh! I'm having the best birthday and it's not even my birthday yet! And it's all thanks to KB! He's the best! I can't stop using exclamation points!

KB had been promising me for weeks a big birthday surprise today since my birthday's in the middle of the week and he won't be here next weekend. I'd been trying to get it out of him for days, but he wouldn't budge. I was very proud. Usually when he has a good secret, he just can't keep it, but not this time!

I got to his house a little late this morning, though I meant to be on time (stupid throwing up in the morning...and oh no, it is so not what you are thinking right now...let's try bad Cinnabun last night, kids!). He drove us down to Laguna Beach to PCH and then down to Dana Point where we went last month. The big surprise -- we went on Captain Dave's Dolphin Safari!!! I have always, always wanted to go whale watching/dolphin seeking ever since I first saw them off the coast of North Carolina when I was a very tiny child, so this was the absolute perfect birthday gift!

We left at 11:30 with 20 other people on the boat. It was another girl's 18th birthday as her mom proudly announced, so I made sure that KB kept mum about my birthday. We cruised out of Dana Point Harbor and out to the open sea. It was absolutely amazing. I've never been on a boat smaller than the Maid of the Mist, so really feeling the water and the waves was new to me. I would have been happy just to be out on the cruise.

We went way out and way south (I don't know the exact distances), but we found them! A beautiful pod of about 20-30 common dolphins and one very cute sea lion. Apparently, the sea lion didn't know he was one because he porpoised just like the dolphins! Seeing the dolphins swimming besides us, right next to the hull, just skimming the surface was so beautiful I almost cried a couple of times. (I'll have pictures soon!) We followed them around for a while before the captain decided the storm was coming and we had to head back. As the rain fell, I stood looking behind the boat into the wake, watching one particular dolphin trying to follow us before it turned back. I sat on the seat and turned my face to sky. It was great to have the wind on my face and the rain falling down. One of the captains explained about dolphins and whales on the way back, but I was more content to just relax and enjoy the ride back to the harbor, contemplating on what I had just experience.

Before we got back to the harbor, we had one more marine encounter. We got to see some California sea lions very, very close (pictures soon!) as they napped on a bouy. There were probably about 10 of them and we were so close that we could almost touch them. It was amazing. Some of them hopped off the bouy and into the water to play and they even barked for us. Just wonderful!!!

It's hard to describe how beautiful it was to see my favorite creatures in their natural environment, just doing their thing. I couldn't get any good pictures because they were too fast for my camera, but I have memories that will last a lifetime. I think we'll be going back in February for the gray whales. I can't wait!

After KB finishes his nap, we're off to birthday dinner and then he's taking me to see love actually. I guess it must be my birthday for him to see that movie, huh?

Halfway Day
Today is Halfway Day in NaNoWriMo land, but I'm not halfway (about 10,000 words from it) and I haven't written in two days...oops! I'm still going to try to finish though.

November 14, 2003 It's that day again
I could try to wax poetic and dish up my feelings from the past, but instead I'll just say, I love you and I miss you, my friend.

November 13, 2003 Homeless Friends
I wish all my homeless and roommate needing friends could find each other and live together somehow. But alas, they are not all in the same city or even in the same state. ::sigh:: Good luck with your searches Tyler, Matt and Adam!

In other news, I just got a fabulous computer/writing desk tonight from Crate and Barrel! I'm so psyched! I feel like a real writer and a total adult now. Of course, I'm exhausted and must sleep soon, but I will be reveling in this wonderfulness for many days to come.

My parents are leaving in the morning and I will miss them. It's great to have them here (and not just cause they buy me things...Teehee!) and the weekend went by too quickly this time. I'll be back at the old homestead for Thanksgiving thanks to the Jet Blue red eye, so that'll be good.

Okay, my body is protesting that I need some sleep, so I shall go. Party on, Wayne!
