I'm procrastinating. There's really no other description for it. I should be packing. I need to be packing. The sooner I pack, the sooner I can get some much needed rest. I have to work 7am to 4pm tomorrow and then drive at least 6 hours north to get to Santa Cruz.

Perhaps I should back up some. I'm just not feeling this entertainment industry thing like I used to. I just don't really feel I'm contributing anything and I hate my job more with every passing day (but that's a whole 'nother entry). So, I'm looking at changing my major to marine biology. I decided that since KB is in KC this weekend, I would take this opportunity to check out the three state schools (I can't afford anything else) that offer this as a major -- UC Santa Cruz, San Francisco State and San Jose State.

Anyway, I'm just procrastinating. I don't really even know why. I usually love packing, even though I always seem to bring too much (you just never know what you might need).

I paid my bills this evening and I finished one group of checks. I don't know why, but I really like that feeling. I guess I'm just excited to be moving through them so I can finally have checks that have my correct address on them. Only about 50 to go :)

I got an e-mail from Katia requesting my fall address if I wanted a postcard from Russia. It's then that I realized for the first time in like two or three years, I don't have to send out a mass mailing about my new address. I'm settled. I don't have worry about holes in the walls (from putting things up) or not decorating because I'm going to leaving in a few months anyway. It's a pretty nice feeling to have.

But oddly enough, I'm not feeling anxious about a possible move to NoCal for college or whatnot. Perhaps it's because it's a distant move (I'll have to take some bio, chem and calc classes before I can think about transferring) in the future or perhaps I've just gotten content with being on my own. Probably the first one ;)

I did laundry tonight and it only took me two loads -- that never happens! I guess it helps to do it once a week instead of waiting until I have nothing to wear :)

Okay, I will make progress tonight. I will pack as much as I can and then do the rest at lunch tomorrow. Yes, that is what I'm going to do now. Right. Now.

You can change your life
(if you wanna)
You can change your clothes
(if you wanna)
If can change your mind
Well that's the way it goes
"So Yesterday" by Hilary Duff

There might never be a sign
No flashing neon light
Telling you to make your move
When the time is right

Why not
Take a crazy chance
Why not
Do a crazy dance
If you lose a moment
You might lose a lot
So why not

I just have to blog about what happened last night, cause it's a perfect example of the bullshit that we in LA have to deal with on a daily basis. KB decides that he wants a chai latte before heading back to the car to head home. We go into Starbucks and one of the guys behind the counter is talking very loudly to someone (no one really seemed to be listening) about the film industry. He was saying that he could tell her/him the next seven projects he was going to do, etc. He owns a production company with a partner and although they had an offer from Sony Classics, it just wasn't what they were looking for. Theatre attendance has gone done for the past five years. And on and on and on. I had to step outside to keep myself from punching the guy in the face.

Newsflash: If you are punctuating your sentences with "Half caf, no foam, vanilla latte" because you are working at STARBUCKS, you are NOT, I repeat, NOT working in the entertainment industry in any viable way. You work At STARBUCKS! Shut your mouth because you have nothing to say!

I feel better now.

Well, last night I saw The Battle of Shaker Heights. And I had a unique experience that I know no else who has seen the movie so far has had.

KB and I decided to go to the ArcLight after all despite their high ticket prices ($14.00). We went about 8:30 and bought tickets for the 10:40 show. We then went to the small restaurant they have there for dinner. We were talking about PGL and some of the message boards that KB had visited that day, when since it's LA (when you're smack mouthing, that person is bound to walk in), Kyle and Efram walked into the restaurant and sat at the bar! I kept waiting for Chris and Jeff to appear, but I guess they had better things to do on a Friday night.

We lost track of them after dinner as we waited for our film to start seating. Apparantly, there was a Q&A after the 7:40 screening with Kyle, Efram and Erica. I never saw Erica, but she must have been around. As we headed down to the theatre, I saw Efram again, chatting with a family and taking photos. It was very surreal to actually see them. I wanted to get my ticket autographed, but he dashed away before I could.

Anyway, that was my night!

Random posts about "current events:"

*Kobe -- I don't know whether or not he did it, but I'm not about to bow down to the altar that is the Lakers like everyone else around me. I think it's dangerous to automatcally label her a whore and a gold digger just cause he's a nice guy. Don't we have enough problems trying to get women to report sexual abuse in this country? No good can come of this.

*Recall -- Am I in favor of the recall? Absolutely. Gray Davis has turned our thriving economy into a dump site and we are definitely worse off than we were before he was in office. Will I be voting for Ah-nold? Absolutely NOT. The day I vote for a Republican, no matter how moderate, is the day I roll over and die. There are so many things wrong with a state who put so much faith in an actor and I can't stand it. I am backing Cruz Bustamante, our current Lt. Governor.

Oh, and I just realized that last Tuesday was the one year anniversary of sparkling dreams. I had hoped to have a new layout to celebrate, but that just isn't going to happen. So look for a new layout to celebrate the two year anniversary of my blog in September!

So, last week D left for another job. I miss her very much. We became fast friends in the six months that we worked together, but hopefully we'll see each other at yoga and such. I have since been promoted to the head of Accounts Receivable (D's old job, without the office management stuff -- three guesses as to who's taken that over!). Yup, that's right -- in six months, I've moved from receptionist to AR Assistant and Returns Liason to Head of AR. Not too shabby for a 22 year old with an AA in Liberal Arts

I am constantly tired from my job, so I haven't been posting or really doing much of anything online like I would like. Ever since we settled on my promotion, K2 has been nice to me, which has helped relieve some of the stress I've been feeling. I'm still more tired than I'd like to be, but hopefully I can blog and get my life back to some semblance of order. I've got the Prayer Digest to do, thank you cards for graduation gifts to write, photo galleries to do and much much more -- man I'm getting tired, just thinking about it!

Okay, well, I'm off to be productive in some way -- wish me luck!

The past couple of weeks have been a roller coaster of epic proportions, but since today is the first day I don't feel like quitting my job at lunch time in about six weeks, I thought I would sit down and blog briefly while I have some yogurt.

About six weeks ago, our old GM "left" (I use the term loosely as he was still coming in every once in a while until a couple of weeks ago) and a former VP of the company under the old ownership, K2, was brought in as a CAO to support our current GM. Then my boss, D, went on vacation. Through the next two weeks and beyond, K2 proceeded to constantly change procedure and protocol without checking with D, the office manager. K2 is not a nice person and I have been on the receiving end of her vitriol more times than I care to count.

to be continued
