::shakes fist at Star 98.7::

Why must you play that song first thing in the morning, huh? Huh? HUH??? Like I need that!!!
Jenn posted at 2:09 PM |

Okay, first shout out to my newest blog reader, t-jx03, who was kind enough to leave me comments today! You rock!

Also had fabulous chat with Chris who called while I was writing the previous post -- it's great to be able to just talk about inconsequential and substantial things for no real good reason other than the fact that we are friends and that's what we do. His phone call totally made my day, so here's to you, Chris! Oh and it turns out he changed his screen name which is why I thought he was never online and he thought I was never online -- silly us!

KB came over tonight, but I was apparently asleep on the couch for the two and a half hours that he was here and watched the Laker game...the last thing I remember was watching The Simpsons. I guess I was more tired than I thought. And on that note, I believe I am going to bed.

TGTIF!

Well, well, well! It's Thursday, I'm home from work awaiting a call from Chris -- I know, I'm shocked too!

First a rant, then some other stuff.

Last night's class was totally and completely useless. I'm taking World Civilizations II and we were supposed to be talking about Asia and the Middle East in the 1500s. Instead we talked about primary sources for an hour, globalization for an hour and fifteen minutes (after he told us he was going to talk about it for 15 minutes and then give us our break), had a 15 minute break at 9pm and then spent the remaining time discussing the handouts he gave us and the "Encounters" we have to do as part of the class (don't ask) instead of the power point presentation he was planning. All in all, a waste of my time. Then it took me 16 minutes to get out of the parking lot at 10 o'clock at night -- what a pain in my ass!

Work is going really well -- everyone is totally nice and D and S are really trying hard and going out of their way to make me feel welcome and included.

Yup, I went on an interview this afternoon and was hired 10 minutes after I left. I now work for Hand Prop Room as their receptionist.

I'll post more about this after dinner. Things have been running nonstop for me since then, but tonight I'll have time to sit down and write it up.

Weird dream alert: I was at a football game with Priya, Shaziya, Anne Ritchey and some one else who I can't remember now, discussing relationships, but it seemed obvious we were still in high school. Then we were all in my room talking about something. I had the big bed that I have now. Then Shaziya fell asleep on my bed and Priya fell asleep on my parents bed, so Anne and I were doing Chemistry and Advanced Algebra homework on the floor of the den. Then I decided to take out the trash and it was the boxes that are in my room right now and I took them to the dumpster that I have now, 'cept it was at the end of the alley. I told you it was weird!

I went biking yesterday and am now paying for it today. I never realized just how out of shape I am. Of course riding a bike with flat tires didn't help, but most of it was the lack of leg muscles. But yea for being able to ride my bike along the beach in a tank top and shorts in February!

I'm interested to know who the reunion is with -- anyone have a clue?

Happy Hump Day everyone! I'm off to work...and no, I didn't get a job ;) I'm temping at my job doing exactly the things I used to do for the same exact pay while they look for a new assistant. I've been gone for two months and this will be assistant #3 post-me. I guess once you've had the best, you just can't deal with anything less. ::grins:: Or something like that.

David Gray Concert
Like I said previously, this concert fucking rocked my socks! The opening guy, Patrick Park, played for about 25 minutes. Then there was about 20 minutes of lag time. At 8:50ish, the lights went dark and the crowd started clapping and psyching up for the show. Then out of nowhere, the spotlight goes on the piano at stage right and there's David Gray smiling, ready to play. He yelled, "Hello Los Angeles!" and then started to play The Other Side, which starts with just David playing the baby grand then about halfway through, when the band is supposed to come in, the curtains open and the stage lights go on and they started rocking out! Fucking awesome!

We pretty much stayed on our feet the whole concert. My favorite intro was to Babylon, his big single off "White Ladder" when he said, "The next one's a rare song that we only play on special occaisions, so you're lucky to get to hear it." The crowd went crazy. During the concert, they opened the back curtains and had some awesome video footage of different elements of a carnival spinning into each other and it totally rocked. Great production value. David played straight through about 10-12 songs. Then he said goodnight.

Everyone started clapping and chanting for David to come back. After a few minutes, he came back out and sat at the baby grand and said, "You fuckers are still here? I figured you would have gone to beat the traffic!" Then he played my favorite song, This Year's Love. They brought back the video screen stuff during Sail Away and the rest of the encore. He ended the show with an absolutely rocking version of Please Forgive Me, which must have last like 10 minutes. It was so fucking cool and I was jumping and grooving....the energy was fantastic!

After the concert ended (about 10:50pm), KB and I went to the stage door to wait for David to leave and hopefully get his autograph and a photo. If you've seen KB and some old photos of David, they look identical, so I wanted a picture of the two of them together. We hung out there until about 12:30am with a varying number of interesting and not-so-interesting people now. My favorite was the couple that only stayed about a half an hour that was from San Juan Capistrano and made it very clear that they hated LA and were very rich and also knew everything there was to know about David Gray...'cept, they didn't. KB had to restrain me from making some comments, and they left before I got really riled up. After standing out there for an hour and a half, his manager came down to inform the security guard that David would not be signing autographs because he was tired. At this point, there were only 12 of us standing there, so I can't imagine that would have taken that long, but whatever. We walked back to the car after David got in his car and drove off and came home about 1am. It was fab!!

Is it wrong that I'm already thinking about Spring Break when my semester only started today? So, what will it be: London, Hawaii or NYC? Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Oh and small rant about stupid SMC. Station C (where you buy your parking permit and can pay for fees -- tuition, etc) now has new hours -- Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 10am-3pm. Question: If you work full time, how the hell do they expect you to be able to buy a parking permit? Stupid fucks.

but everything happens for reasons that she will never understand
'til she knows the heart of a woman will never be found in the arms of a man

and if she runs away she fears she won't be followed
what could be the worse than leaving something behind
and as the depth of oceans slowly become shallow
it's loneliness she finds...

Well, the headache is gone...yea for Excedrin Migraine ;)

I've got an interview today at 4pm with a commercial talent agency for a reception job. Wish me luck for the 4 billionth time...just think...what will you do when I get a job and only blog about how much it sucks, huh? You'll be begging for the days that you got to wish me luck ;)

Oh and here's a great article from The Onion. I was saying some of this exact stuff yesterday ;)

Setting the record straight
Okay, let me set the record straight cause I'm tired of getting the same searches finding my blog. I blame my pounding headache for any vitriol that will be found from here on out.

I have nothing and will have nothing on this page or anyother page of my website talking about JM NAKED. She's a fabulous actress and one of my favorites, but there will be nothing about her being naked anywhere around here.

Secondly, those of you who keep searching for Suzy M. What is it about her? That shows been off the air for YEARS now and she's graduating college, no longer the cute, spritely thing she was on the show. What's the obsession? What do you want to know? I knew her for 5 years when we were kids. I haven't spoken to her since and I don't really care to talk about her now. This isn't the page to find updates. I suggest you move on.

And with that, I'm going to go watch some reruns of sitcoms on Lifetime and probably fall asleep on the couch. Again.

I am now a free woman for the next five days, having completed my cinema final. On Tuesday I started my colonial history class and on Wednesday its Western Civ II -- whoohoo for history majors!

Man, if I thought yesterday's rain was bad, whoo, today, it was pouring.

Well still no word from the place I interviewed on Friday, but I'm staying positive. I sent out five more resumes last night, so the search for employment continues.

Tonight's my cinema final -- I'm actually kinda sad cause I was enjoying my professor and with the exception of a couple of film-student-wanabees, the class was good too. I gotta get to the video store though cause there's a couple of films that I didn't see the ending.

Well, I guess that pretty much brings you up to speed -- sad, ain't it? ;)

Interview Update: It went very, very well, I think ;) I had a good rapport with my interviewer and although it didn't last very long, I kept the conversation going with 3 very insightful questions. I'm supposed be called next week by one of the executives to discuss pay and such, so let's keep praying for that phone call. ;)

Watched the Steelheads rip into the Ice Dogs winning 7-4 last night. Kev got us fantastic seats and we met another Steelhead fan couple -- good times!

I have to rave a minute about Market Broiler. They are only in Cali, but if there's one near you -- go there now! Last night KB and I wanted to have a nice dinner because my interview went well. I ordered my classic steak (loves me the red meat ) and KB ordered the cajun shrimp pasta. I loved mine, but KB wasn't too fond of his -- it was really spicy and just not what he wanted, guess he just misordered. All through the meal, we managers coming by to make sure that everything was alright. Towards the end of the meal, our waitress came by to see how everything was. KB told her that he had misordered and the pasta just wasn't what he had wanted. She offered to bring him another dish (on the house) of anything he wanted. He declined, but thanked her for the offer. She then sent on of the managers out who made the same offer and told him that they would be taking the pasta off the bill (even though he had eaten some of it) because their policy is that customers don't pay for food they don't like. He then offered us some dessert. Our waitress brought out the dessert tray and we settled on sharing the biggest hot fudge sundae I've ever seen, which we were also not charged for.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I really appreciate it when someone makes a mistake (and this wasn't even their mistake) that they own up to it and seem sincerely apologetic about it. So, please if you ever have the opportunity, eat at Market Broiler. The food is excellent and the service is unbeatable. They currently have seven locations: Fremont, Glendale, Huntington Beach, Orange, Ontario, Tarzana and Riverside.

Okay weird dream first, then my news ;)

I gotta stop watching reality shows because this is the only thing I can think of that would cause this dream. I was at a charity event of some sort. My parents were there, but it was definitely a Hollywood thing ;) It was in a big cafeteria type place and there weren't too many people there. I saw Kathy Griffin across the room and wanted to get her autograph. I went across the room and she thought that I was one of the charity people trying to get money. It was revealed that I was one of her fans and we were buddy buddy. We ended up at one end of the room with her signing an autograph on a scrap of paper, even though I had my autograph book. Then her handler (publicist or whatever) and my mom started walking over from different parts of the room and they were dressed the same. And that's when I realized that Kathy and I were the same height. Then we had to leave each other and she promised me big things in my career. That's all I remember.

Anyhoo, the news is that I have a job interview tomorrow. That makes 11 interviews in 76 jobs applied for. Whoohoo ;)

randomness
It's a hodge-podge post of unending observation and joy....love it!

First, yes, Adam, sweetie, I remember that phase. I also remember telling you that you'd been Adam to me since we were dorky elementary school kids and you'd always be Adam to me. Good thing you came to your senses ;)

Well, the parents are gone and I'm now all alone and sick in my apartment. Oh joy! Took some DayQuil and feel slightly better with no "lost in my head" feeling. For some reason that feeling always reminds me of Caryn's 18th birthday party, the one where Olen surprised her. I know, I know...that makes no sense...

On Friday, we were supposed to see a taping of The King of Queens, but they changed the night of taping without notifying us (oh yeah, Audiences Unlimited is getting a letter about that!). With some smooth talking from yours truly, I got the group of us into a taping of The Wheel, so look for us in episodes airing the week of March 28, 2003 ;)

Like Caryn, I noticed that we've all been doing some introspection. I haven't been blogging it, but I've definitely been feeling it. I wonder what brought it on all of us at the same time...we're so spread out that you'd think we wouldn't still be connected like we once were.

Well, I'm off to answer e-mails that have been piling up. Perhaps I'll be back later tonight in a NyQuil-induced state and blog some really embarrassing memories...just something to look forward to ;)

February 1, 2003 forever connected
I would also like to shout out to Lauren who I haven't spoken to in like 3 years because I remember a conversation we had about the Challenger when we were in high school. With today's events, I thought about you. I hope you are well.
Jenn posted at 3:14 PM |

While I'm sure this dates me, I remember vividly watching on television when the Challenger took off that day in 1986. I was five years old and I didn't know what what was going on, but I knew that something was wrong. Until September 11th, that day was one of the days that defined my generation.

I just woke up after being sick all night and I have not turned on the news, but I am already crying and praying for friends and family of all those who work for NASA and were on board the Columbia. God bless and be with all of them.
