November 29, 2007 All About My Favorite Jim/Pam moments (TT#14)
Without new episodes of The Office to keep my occupied, I've been watching my DVDs and enjoying the classics. So, today, please enjoy my favorite Jim and Pam moments over the past three and a half seasons (in episode order). I limited myself to one moment per episode chosen. Most of them are the obvious moments throughout the course of the show, but I guess they are classic and obvious choices for a reason!

13 favorite Jim/Pam moments on The Office
All caps courtesy of Such A Dork.

1. Pam Falls Asleep on Jim's Shoulder ("Diversity Day")
It's such an innocent moment - Pam is literally bored to sleep by Michael's ridiculous diversity lecture - but we get a great Jim moment when he looks over, sees her and smiles. With that fabulous, unconscious expression of how he just loves that she feels so comfortable with him, we really start to see the depth of his feelings for her. I'm such a sucker for that little smile!
2. Pam Checks Jim Out ("Basketball")
Okay, the screencap really does not do justice to the fabulous look on Pam's face after Jim totally schools Roy right in front of her. He gives her this fabulous little nod and she just looks him up and down as he jogs away, licking her lips as she does so. I mean, that would be my reaction after watching Jim/John play basketball and get all sweaty...oops, tangent! Anyway, it's one of the first clues that Pam is attracted to Jim, even if she won't admit it to anyone (including herself).
3. Pam Kisses Jim After Her Acceptance Speech ("The Dundies")
I love how really tickled Jim is by Pam's drunken acceptance speech directly before the big kiss because you can just tell that he really enjoys seeing her let go and be how she "really" is. He's totally surprised by the kiss, but he completely gives in to it, probably for the same reasons that she does it. He really wants to kiss her and this one is a freebie because they can both claim she was drunk and didn't know what she was doing (and he was just really surprised, so he froze). It's a win-win-win.
4. Jim and Pam Listen to Jim's iPod ("The Client")
There's something so unbelievably intimate about two people sharing a set of ear buds that I can't quite explain. I like the thought that Jim regularly provides Pam with new music and that sharing his iPod is a regular enough occurence for them that she simply has to hold out her hand and he gets it. It's the perfect cap for their little rooftop date, even if she won't cop to it the next morning.
5. Pam Finds Jim's Yearbook ("Email Surveillance")
This scene always reminds of that quote from "Friends" - Ross, that girl just spent the entire evening talking to your friends, asking to hear stories about you, looking through Monica’s photo albums, I mean you don’t do that if you’re just in it for two weeks.. Pam wanders off "the tour" to spend some alone time in Jim's bedroom, the one place he would be totally himself. You can learn so much about someone from the way they decorate that room and it's obvious that Pam wants to know more about her friend. Jim's delight at that realization only sweetens the scene for me.

6. Jim Confronts Pam on Her Choices ("Boys and Girls")
I know it seems weird to put a fight on a list of favorite moments, but I really like that Jim challenges Pam about her decision not to pursue the art internship. It could be argued that it's really none of his business. However, you can tell that he wants nothing but the best for her and it actually hurts him to see her not going after things she obviously wants. He says one of my favorite lines of all time in this scene - it's so true, too: "You gotta take a chance on something sometime, Pam."
7. Jim Can Talk Again ("Drug Testing")
I never knew that someone could make the word "Hi" seem so aborable/sexy, but apparently John Krasinski can. I love that Pam is pushed into admitting that she just needs to talk to Jim and that she misses him even when he's right in front of her. Jim doesn't push her, but is delighted all the same to be able to talk to her again. They both have such fabulous smiles in this scene - it's almost blinding.

8. Jim Kisses Pam ("Casino Night")
I picked this moment in lieu of the confession for a few reasons. It was completely unexpected when I saw it for the first time and I really liked that. I love that Jim doesn't say a word when he finds Pam leaned up against his desk, talking to her mom. He just pulls her to him and kisses her. Jim's confession was so heart-breaking in its honesty that it's almost hard to watch and Pam's stone-face as she's forced to confront the reality of her life just hurts too much to be a favorite moment. In this moment, however, they are both being honest with each other for the first time and it's beautiful to watch.
9. Jim and Pam Have a 3-Hour Phone Conversation ("The Initiation")
Pam's random decision to answer the phone as she's getting ready to walk out the door leads to a fabulous conversation with her old friend. It's obvious that they haven't talked since Jim left, but they are quick to slip back into their old dynamic of teasing, banter and familiarity. We don't see them talk about anything from the summer or anything heavy, but you can tell that they both miss the other terribly. We see smiles from them that we haven't see in the third season up until now and it's just amazing.
10. Pam Greets Jim Upon His Return to Scranton ("The Merger")
Pam is so hopeful that she's almost giddy and it makes giddy right alongside her, even though I know what's to come. I love that she doesn't hide how excited she is about actually seeing him again. She just launches herself into his arms in front of the whole office. Even though he's clearly trying to protect himself, Jim just can't keep the grin off his face when he's holding her. He won't let her see it, but in those brief moments, you can tell that he's just as happy to see her as she is to see him.
11. Jim Asks Pam Out ("The Job")
Jim gets a yogurt lid gold medal in his folder of sales reports while he's interviewing for a job at Corporate and that's all it takes for him to remember who he really is and what he wants. It's the end of Corporate!Jim and the beginning of a whole new life for these two. Again, I was completely surprised to see Jim barge in on Pam's talking head to ask her out and I love Pam's "transcendent moment" after he does.

12. Jim and Pam Hold Hands ("Fun Run")
Although I just adore the scene in the conference room where they get "caught" by the cameras, this is my favorite moment of the episode because we/the cameras get to see this couple-y moment between the two of them that no one else gets to see. They are ridiculously adorable together and it's really cute to see them being so happy together.
13. Jim and Pam Cuddle While Dwight Reads Them a Bedtime Story ("Money")
Speaking of ridiculously adorable, this scene totally makes this episode my favorite of the season so far. I love that Jim was able to convince Dwight to read to them from Harry Potter and I love how comfortable they are with each other in front of their co-worker (and his weird cousin). The documentary format of the show limits how we get to see the characters, so it was really fun to see them as a couple in their "off hours."
There were a lot of moments that I wanted to include as honorable mentions (like Pam picks the teapot in "Christmas Party" or Pam calls Jim out in "Beach Games"), but I was limited to thirteen, so this is what I came up with. Feel free to add your own favorites in the comments :)

Have a PB & J day!
